After studies in liberal arts and foreign languages in Poland and Czechoslovakia, Dymel moved to the United States where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Environmental Design from Parsons School of Design in New York City.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Dymel was an Adjunct Professor of Design and Design History at her Alma mater Parsons from 1988 through 1995. From 2006 to 2008 Dymel was a Visiting Professor at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn conducting design seminars in the Jewelry division of the Sculpture Department.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">After several years of working in the field of architecture, she began to design jewelry and small objects. Since 1990 she has run her own studio in Brooklyn, New York. Dymel lives with her husband and son in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Her approach to jewelry making and design is informed by her architectural training and background. Guided by a Modernist aesthetic, Dymel achieves harmony in modular repetitions of geometric forms.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A Minimalist aesthetic and preference for clean lines are major forces influencing her work, resulting in pure and graceful pieces. Modernism movements of the 1920&#8217;s, such the Bauhaus School and Russian avantgarde art, are main\u00a0 inspirations for Dymel in making her work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In her latest collections she also incorporates mid-20th-century design aesthetics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Dymel&#8217;s work is sold primarily in museum shops, design stores, fine craft and jewelry galleries throughout the US. She has also sold her work in Japan, Hong Kong and in Europe. She has exhibited her work at many prestigious craft shows in the US, such as Crafts at the Castle (Boston), Philadelphia Museum Craft Fair, Craft Boston, American Craft Council shows in Baltimore, Atlanta, Charlotte, St. Paul, San Francisco, and Sarasota.
