Sara Rivera’s love for jewelry started as a young girl. Her grandmother had a grand jewelry box filled with all sorts of trinkets her grandfather had brought back from Japan and overseas.

Every now and then she would let Rivera try on her jewels and when she put them on, she couldn’t help but feel like a princess. To this day Rivera still feels special when she puts on a new trinket. She will always credit her grandparents for the foundation of her jewelry business.

From 1998-99 Rivera studied at MICA in Baltimore Md. In 1999 she found an entry-level bench jewelry position with Sterling Inc. By 2001, she had worked her way up to managing one of the few custom/repair shops in the Northern Virginia area. After her son was born in 2005, she was drawn not only to working at home, but also to explore design and art jewelry, thus the birth of her jewelry line.

She continued her education and artistic training through GIA and in 2006 earned her AJP. “It really took about a year to find my “niche”, but after the first couple billets of Mokume-gane I was hooked.”

Most of Rivera’s work falls into the Art Jewelry category now but her clients really love the uniqueness of it. With each new design Rivera’s goal is to create that WOW piece that you are excited to show off.

“I can’t believe that it’s been over seven years now. I feel very fortunate to be able to do what I love and spend quality time with my family.”
