Tom Bloyd’s first exposure to blowing glass happened while pursuing his metal-smithing degree at the University of Kansas. Immediately drawn to the vivid colors and spontaneity of the glass, at the age of twenty-one and limited knowledge of glass, he built his own glass studio from scratch and from there began his career as a glass blower. Little did he know at the time, this journey would take his work through galleries and collections around the world.

Tom’s style of art has drawn from the American Folk art tradition, applying a fresh perspective while still utilizing old world Italian glassblowing techniques. This technique allows Tom to find a balance between old and new, elegant and whimsy, refinement and spontaneity.
