Barbara White has a BA and MA in Art Education from the University of Wisconsin and Eastern Michigan University. Having painted Midwest scenery for over thirty years, White has participated in many state and local art competitions, many group and one-person shows, including a one-person show at EMU in Ypsilanti in October 2002, and at Kettering University in July 2003. White has been accepted to various juried shows and received awards throughout the Michigan, Chicago, Illinois, Wisconsin and Massachusetts areas.

White has twenty-two years of teaching experience in adult education, college level teaching and adult high school art courses in drawing, graphic arts, interior design and painting, including watercolors, acrylics and oils. She has worked as an interior designer in Chicago and Michigan, and also has owned a small business producing architectural renderings and watercolors of residential homes and commercial buildings.

In recent years, White has sketched and paintedon location in many countries including Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Canada, China, Brazil and fourteen countries in Europe including Germany. She has organized and instructed Au Plein Aire workshops in and around Esslingen and Stuttgart, Germany, as well as Frisco, Colorado.

Her works are in collections in Michigan, Colorado, Wisconsin, Ohio, Massachusetts and Germany.

In painting nature and the landscape as representational images, she relies on inspiration combined with her imagination to create natural imagery. With this combination and strong emphasis on intense color, design and composition, White tires to capture the soul of the scene and ultimately convey an expressionistic representational style.
