Whether she is painting portraits, landscapes, or still life, Vianna Szabo is known for her expressive use of color that captures a moment in time. She is a nationally recognized artist who has won awards in many juried competitions.
Teaching is her other passion, and offers a variety of artistic workshops around the country. She works in pastels, oil and watercolor. Szabo is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America and the Pastel Society of the West Coast. She was inducted into the IAPS Master Circle in 2011.
Some of her most recent exhibitions include: the Great Lakes Pastel Society Members Exhibition at the Atrium Gallery in the Novi Civic Center, Gold Metal Award, 2013; 14th Annual Pastel Journal Magazine, Pastel 100 Competition, Honorable Mention, Portrait/Figure Category; Faces and Figures National Juried Competition, at the Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda, FL, 2013 – winner of the Bowles Award for Portrait Excellence; and an Honorable Mention from the 2013 ‘Out of Box’ category, Portrait Society of America Members Only Competition.
Szabo lives with her husband, Mark and their two children, Shawn and Anna. Her children are her favorite models and can be seen frequently in her work. The Szabo family shares the household with their canine love, Max, a three-legged dog.
